We are Folume, a design studio led by me, Rasmus Nilsson. The joy of creating has always been a crucial part of my life and I am so excited to share this project with you.

This journey started many years ago, when I figured out how to fold my first paper lantern. The lantern became an ever growing exploration of folding paper into volumes. I was amazed by how a flat paper could make the most exciting volume. My folding stayed a pastime for many years, I tried to learn others to fold sculptures but found that it is a very precise practice that takes both patience and practice to master. This irritated me. One day I was struck by the idea to turn the designs in to patterns. Patterns that could be perforated on to the paper making the very precise practice of paper folding accessible, fast and easy to learn and follow.

With our lamps we want to teach; how to transform paper into volumes. To inspire, explore and experiment. By bringing you into the making process we hope our designs become yours. Take the designs further, paint, sow, print, cut and make them complete!
